842. William Goodenow Goodnowe Goodenough

He had an estate probated in 1780. Mary Anne Goodno: Inventory of the estate.

Listed as a member of the Keene Foot Co. Aug 1773, a group of 117 officers and men and an "alarm list" of older, less able men. There is no record that he was with the Co. when it answered the Lexington Alarm. Census 1776 Keene, NH William Goodenough. The HISTORY OF KEENE shows he signed a petition (together with most Keene adult males) in support of a 1776 resolution to support the United Colonies against Great Britain (Griffin, S. G. A HISTORY OF THE TOWN OF KEENE FROM 1732, WHEN THE TOWNSHIP WAS GRANTED, TO 1774, WHEN IT BECAME A CITY; 1904).
Also signed a petition on November 22, 1776 to the NH Legislature, asking that houses set up to inoculate against smallpox be removed from Keene. During the Revolution, the back and forth travel of soldiers produced local smallpox epidemics from time to time. Ironically, he probably died of smallpox four years later. An inventory dated May 18, 1780 totaling 124..19.2 of which L90 was real estate is available at NEHGS.
Possible origin, Sudbury, MA.
