Deliverance Parmenter

a twin to Thankfull|| This date recorded twin births with
another child of the same parents being Thankful Hayden but her
birthdate is given as Dec. 16 not Dec 6, 1709. The record
sheet is torn and shows only 170(torn) for both children, but
it is noted that the record was made after Sept. 1709.

338. Lt. Joseph Goodenough

Joseph Goodnow was a first settler of Berlin, VT. He served in
the French & Indian War as paymaster in British Army. At
outbreak of Revolution he was 2nd Lieut. in Colonial army. At
the battle of Lexington, 19 Apr 1775 he took prominent part,
being 1st Lieut. of Sudbury, MA company. July 1, 1778 to May
31, 1779 he was sergeant of company detailed to guard a
magazine at Sudbury. 1798 with son Jonas he came to Berlin, VT
where he purchased 500 acres from John Japlin. 1799 shortly
after wife's death, with son Jonas, and latter's wife and
child, he started for Berlin arriving about middle of March. He
had previously built a log cabin. There he spent the remainder
of his life. His sons Jesse and William also removed to
Berlin. Jonas son Joseph married Betsey Rice of Sudbury and
had children Jonas, b. Sudbury, Jesse, Abigail m. Alden Doten,
and Charles.

1026. Capt. Joseph Goodnow Goodenow

Fought in the Battle of Lexington where the opening shots of
the Revolution were fired. He frequently served in the
military: he was in the French & Indian War (1757-60) in Nova
Scotia and elsewhere, served in the colonial militia
(1761-1765) and served various tours of duty in the Revolution
(1776-1779).

1027. Abraham Goodenow

Will: Abraham Goodenow bequeathed to three sons Abraham,
Simeon, and Daniel and four daughters, Lucy, Silence, Betsey,
and Chresy. "...note I hold against David Beard... One half I
give and bequest to Abraham Goodenow Beard, son of said David
Beard...the other half...to Polly Beard wife of the said
David."..my youngest daughter Chresy be supported out of her
own share until she arrives to the age of seven years and that
my daughter, Lucy should provide for and bring her up until she
arrives to the age of eighteen years if her circumstances

Jonas Goodenow, afterwards Deacon, and son of Peter, m. Mary,
daughter of Nathaniel Davenport, Jan 29, 1767. Children:
Elijah who d. in NH; Abel Moore, b. May 28, 1769 and married
Amelia (Amitia on the record) Fassett, Apr 5, 1790; Nathaniel,
Nov 20, 177?; Mary, Oct 9, 1773 and d. in NH; Jonas, Jan 6,
1776 and d. Jan 27, 1783; Dorothy, Feb 24, 1778; Jedediah, May
6, 1780 and d. in Pennsylvania; Lucy, Jan 3, 1783 and d. in
Ohio; Jonas, Feb 11, 1785; Tamor, who was recently living in
Ohio; and Joseph, sup. murdered in IL.
